On a bright spring day, not unlike Marathon Monday of two years ago, faculty, staff and students of Northeastern University gathered on Krentzman Quad to remember the victims of the tragic Boston attacks of April 15th, 2013. Hosted by the Center for Spirituality, Dialogue and Service, the memorial service brought eye-witnesses and first-responders together with Spiritual Advisors and ministers of the University to offer reflections and prayers. Center director Alexander Levering Kern gave an opening word and then invited members of the Spiritual Advising team to read out the names of the victims and lay origami cranes at the foot of a floral arrangement dedicated to those who died. Br. Sam Gunn of the Brotherhood of Hope was among those who laid a token of remembrance on the grass. At the conclusion of the ceremony all participants were encouraged to place a crane in front of the memorial. Our prayers remain with all the victims of the bombings and their families.
