It’s official: Ray Morris Jr. and Logan Murray can now be called “brother.” With the community gathered for our annual retreat in Methuen, Massachusetts on July 25th, our newest brothers committed their lives to Christ as novices in the Brotherhood of Hope. Brs. Ray and Logan declared their intent before the assembled brothers, with several associates and college men also attending. They received the Brotherhood crucifix as a sign of their conformity to Christ and knelt reverently as the brothers gathered around to pray for God’s blessing in the year ahead of formation in consecrated life.
Br. Logan Murray hails from South Carolina, though his roots go back to Chicago. Quick with a friendly smile and always ready to lend a hand, Br. Logan spent the past year serving as a Mission Leader with the HUB college ministry based at the Catholic Center at Northeastern University in Boston. Br. Logan loves horse racing, the Bears and Jurassic Park.
Br. Ray Morris Jr., like Br. Logan, met the brothers through his involvement in the Catholic Center at Rutgers. Easygoing, hardworking and quick to make friends, Ray spent this year working as a secretary to Gov. Rick Scott of Florida. Prior to that, Ray worked with Dr. Michael McCarron at the Florida Catholic Conference. Ray was born and raised in New Jersey. A favorite quote by David McCullough Jr., son of famous historical author David senior, made viral as part of a high school commencement speech, captures Ray’s approach to life: "the great and curious truth of the human experience is that selflessness is the best thing you can do for yourself."
Our novices are receiving their training in Tallahassee under the direction of Br. Rahl Bunsa, our General Superior emeritus and now Local Superior in our Florida household. Our new brothers are in very good hands and are eager to get things going in the hopes of one day wearing the gray. Please pray for them as they, and we, pray daily for you.
