We are excited to announce that Br. Ray Morris and Br. Logan Murray will profess perpetual vows of chastity, poverty and obedience on July 11th.
For the past five years, Br. Ray and Br. Logan have served as campus ministers while going through the Brotherhood’s formation process as temporarily vowed Brothers. Br. Ray serves at the Catholic Student Union at Florida State University and Br. Logan serves at the Catholic Center at Northeastern University.
Founded in 1980 in Newark, New Jersey, we—the Brotherhood of Hope— evangelize thousands of Catholic students attending Northeastern University (Boston, Massachusetts); Rutgers University (New Brunswick, New Jersey); Florida State University (Tallahassee, Florida); University of Central Florida (Orlando, Florida); and University of Minnesota (Minneapolis, Minnesota).
“The charity, unity and loyalty we have in the Brotherhood of Hope is very encouraging to experience among a group of men,” said Brother Ken Apuzzo, our General Superior. “We are truly blessed to enjoy growth in our 40th Anniversary year as Br. Ray and Br. Logan dedicate their lives to inspire the next generation to renew the Church.”
Based in Boston under the supervision of Cardinal Sean O’Malley, the Brotherhood of Hope has two dozen men in various stages of formation. The addition of Br. Ray and Br. Logan will bring the number of perpetually professed Brothers to 20.
The charism of our Brotherhood is the All-Sufficiency of Christ, which is expressed through the life and mission of each Brother. Our formation process takes at least seven years. The novitiate year is the most intensive component and the only period of full-time formation. Brothers typically profess temporary vows for five years before professing perpetual vows. They also serve in the Brotherhood’s campus ministries during this period of formation.
The Brotherhood will celebrate its 40th anniversary all year long, with highlights including profession of perpetual vows in July and temporary vows in August. The actual anniversary date is September 14th, the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross.
