Growing in Hope

Hope is not wishful thinking. Christian hope is trust in Jesus Christ when we can see only part of the road. It lets us wait, pray, repent, and love because God keeps his promises.
This page gathers a few ways to grow in hope: short reflections from the Brothers, a simple prayer, music for prayer, and a few trusted links to keep close.
What Christian Hope Is
Christian hope begins with God, not with our own ability to make life work. For a short Church teaching reference, read the Catechism on hope, CCC 1817-1821.
Figures of Hope in Christ’s Passion
Watch one reflection at a time, then stay with the prompt below it in prayer.
Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea
Reflect: Where is Jesus inviting me to move from hidden faith to courageous love?
Simon of Cyrene
Reflect: What cross near me could become a place to meet Jesus instead of something to avoid?
The Good Thief
Reflect: Where do I need to ask Jesus for mercy with simple trust?
Mary
Reflect: What does Mary teach me about hope when I cannot change the suffering in front of me?
Jesus
Reflect: What promise of Jesus do I need to hold onto today?
Prayer and Reflection
Pray the Litany of Hope. Notice the line or saint that stays with you, and ask how that word is inviting you to trust Jesus more deeply.
