Minnesota Household

Minneapolis / Archdiocese of Saint Paul & Minneapolis / University of Minnesota, Twin Cities

Matthew 5:14

A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

The Lord has called our Minnesota household to be a beacon of light to the city of Minneapolis. We live and serve in the center of Dinkytown, a lively college neighborhood adjacent to the University of Minnesota.

Household Story

A Beacon of Light in Dinkytown

Our Minnesota household is the site of our brotherhood’s first westward expansion. In 2013, the brothers were invited by the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis to serve at the campus ministry at the University of Minnesota. By 2014, three brothers had established a household in Minneapolis, at the rectory attached to St. Lawrence Catholic Church and Newman Center. We have lived and served there ever since.

We live in the 100-year-old St. Lawrence Rectory, where the Paulists had previously served for many years. We are honored to continue the tradition of consecrated religious living and serving at St. Lawrence Catholic Church and Newman Center!

We presently serve under the pastor Fr. Jake Anderson in numerous capacities: college student ministry, young professionals ministry, and inner healing ministry. Other organizations we have served in the Archdiocese include Saint Paul’s Outreach and the Saint Paul Seminary.

Our house overlooks one of the busiest streetcorners in the University area. Students pass by our house throughout the day, and, on the weekends, late into the night. It is certainly not the quietest of our brotherhood’s houses, but we feel called to live where the action is happening. In a neighborhood of great spiritual poverty, we feel called to help magnify the light of Christ.
