Isaiah 26:1
“A strong city have we; he sets up victory as our walls and ramparts.”
A peaceful home not far from UCF campus surrounded by tall pines, grazing cows and kind neighbors. Our spacious chapel is full of light and song while friends are frequent guests at our table and good conversation, along with laughter, is often heard.
Household Story
A Gift in Our Orlando Home
The first Orlando Brothers, Brs. Adam Neri and John McCabe moved into the house on Memorial Day weekend of 2019. Br. John recalls, “When we arrived in Orlando back in 2017 it was just the two of us. We rented a small house near campus for the first two years with the goal that we would find a more permanent home. Once we started looking, we discovered that most houses in the area were too close together and didn’t offer enough parking for us to have a lot of people over.”
But this house was different. Located on a big lot off a dirt road with chickens, cows and kids next door, it had a warm family feel.
The Brothers thought the house itself would be too small, but after a second look we made a bid, and just in time!
Since moving in we’ve built an extension with a big chapel and more room for Brothers. This year we had nine in the house and fit comfortably. The yard is big enough for us to host events like our post-Easter Vigil celebration. And the neighbors are great – they let our guests park all around their property without complaint. Late-night parties aside, the peace and quiet of the location lends itself to prayer and reflection, while the surrounding woods offer plenty of fuel for our frequent bonfires. What a gift the Lord has given us in our Orlando home!
